Marian 20x20x1.5

Marian is my niece and the person who made me an aunt for the first time. She is extraordinarily intelligent and creative, with talents spanning music, art, and seemingly anything else she decides to pursue. Yet there is a gentleness about her that I wanted this painting to preserve. She carries my maternal grandfather’s name, but years later she gave me an honor entirely her own when she asked me to be her Confirmation sponsor. That meant more than she probably realized because she chose me. I am proud of her talents, but even more proud of the thoughtful, responsible, kind young woman she has become.
